hello!

i haven't seen a boar since last week. if i do i will try and get a picture. Preston going to Montana! that's so exciting! I'm sure he will love it. when does he leave?

that's interesting that you mention the language of the spirit. that is what presidents email was on. he said that it was a chapter that he was studying mostly to help the Spanish missionaries but as he was studying that he found that the spirit has its own language and that we can seek the gift of the tongues to understand the spirit more in our lives. we have assignment to study chapter 7 of preach my gospel that teaches about leaning a language I'm excited to learn what is their and to learn to better understand the spirit. i have realized that when you are always looking and working to understand the more i realize that the spirit is trying to teach me.

L was baptized and confirmed Saturday! she is so solid! Her son referred her to us and was able to fly down from Charlotte Carolina. it was awesome I'll seen a picture of the four of us. L is from Puerto Rico so most of the Spanish part of the ward came to support. it was great! the spirit and tears were both present. we had stake conference Sunday so we received permission to confirm L at the baptism. it was a great experience! her son performed both of the ordinances and was supper pleased with what his mothers decision.

this past week was a big finding week. we found one girl that we stopped and talked to while we were biking and she allowed us to set up a return appointment when we arrived to teach she was there and had remembered that we were coming over, which was a blessing in itself. we taught most of the first lesson. she will hopefully be coming to church next week. we may have to refer her to the ysa ward she is 30 so it is border lined. we also found a few other people that we are hopefully going to start teaching this week!

transfers are next Monday and there is a possibility of me leaving. if not this transfer then probably for sure next.

is there any snow in the forecast? its been getting a little cooler here so i hope that's the case there as well.

From Korea? I`m sure that's gotta be a sweet accent. Maybe you got a

taste of how Hna Iquise feels all the time, she always says she doesn't
understand me. Its rough stuff learning a language, but its good for
us. And its true mom, the most important language we can learn is the
languages of the spirit. I`m sending some pictures, but I don't
remember what I sent last week, sot he might be repeats.

As far as I know I don`t have fleas ;) I went to the dermatologist
this week, and she said I have delicate skin (didn`t need a
dermatologist to tell me that ;)), and that because the sun was out so
strong it made me itch. She prescribed me a cream and some pills that
i`m taking, and it doesn`t itch anymore, so its good! I take 2 garlic
pills in the morning, and usually i forget at night, there is so much
to do and so little time.

This week has been great. I don`t remember if I mentioned it, but last
week wasn`t that great. haha No one came to church last week and as I
was meditating in RS what more i could do the scripture in ether came
to my head, about not seeing the miracles until after the trial of our
faith. We had seriously done EVERYTHING I could think of to have
investigators in church, and no one came. We prayed, fasted, called
them, went to pick them up, had the members pick them up, and taught
the sabbath day observance - and nada. It was definitely a trial of my
faith.

Tuesday we had zone conference, and president calderòn testified that
if we do our part, are obediente, God will bless us. I had this
yearning in my heart to believe his words, but it was hard. Wednesday
we worked hard all day, but the miracle came that night when we got
home. We were planning when the phone rang. I answered it and it was
the Bishop. He quickly explained that an old investigator that was
supposed to get baptized in December but he moved had moved back to
the ward and had gone to the bishops house to ask if he could have
another opportunity to be baptized. Someone we hadn`t even seen for a
month was asking to be baptized! We talked him Daniel Thursday, gave
him a baptismal date Friday, and this Saturday - hes gonna be
baptized! When we visited him he told us he had  a dream and knew that
this was the true church. He lives with his grandma that is a member,
his mom lives in Spain, and his other grandma didn`t want him to be
baptized. But he now has the permission of his mom and his other
grandma, and he is excited. Its amazing. I feel super blessed.

We also had several other investigators in church yesterday. One is the
Lopez family. The first time we visited them Hna Lopez told us that he
didn`t believe in anything that he couldn`t touch or see, and did not
believe in God. We passed by the next week, he received us, apologized,
and said he wanted to keep learning, and that we should teach him like
a "normal person". He has said the closing prayer at all of our
appointments, he is reading the book of Mormon, and he really liked
the church yesterday. it is truly amazing to see the complete change
in his life, and i am super excited to keep working with him and his
wife.

There is also another family and they`re great. Its a single dad and
his two kids, but I love their names - Joseph, Mary, and Jesus. We
haven`t been able to teach them because we couldn`t find him, and when
we did find him we didn`t have another hhermana with us. But he and
his kids have gone to church twice now, and I think we should baptize
them! haha

But there really have been many miracles. I am so grateful for all
that I am learning, to be here on a  mission, and to be able to see
that it really is all in the Lord`s hands, and in His time. I know if
we do our best, we can leave the rest to Him.

The past few days my whole face and neck have been itching like CRAZY!
I don´t know what the deal is, everyone tells me its the sun. But I
don´t understand why it would be the sun, i´ve been walking all day
everyday in teh sun for a year and it has happened before, i´m gonna
call hna calderón today I think. The mosquitos are bitin´like crazy my
legs are lookin awesome. Its pretty funny, i sit in all the lessons
and just spend my time scratching... my whole body! A member accused
me of lookin like a dog, and warned me that soon enough my foot was
gonna start tappin. haha

Oh before I forget, I think its Nellie´s birthday this week?? Happy
birthday Nellie!
I´m sending some picture of p-day last week. Hna Iquise and I went out
to ice cream to celebrate our 7/7, then half an our later we found the
other hermanas and a sister from equipetrol, and she bought ice cream
for all of us... we´´ll just say I ate a lot of ice cream - delicious!
it was fun.

Today we played soccer in the morning with another zone - paraíso. It
was super fun. Hna Iquise doesn´t like to play, and there are other
hermanas in the zone - who don´t like to play, so I just played wtih
all the elders, but I definitely enjoyed it. Its a good stress release
for me.

Sounds like Simeon gave an awesome talk in primary. We received the
liahonas from January and February this week, and I got to read about
agency in them too. I loved presidente Monson´s message from January.
I feel like this month it has been pounded into me - its all in your
attitude, you need to have positive thoughts, keep working hard, have
faith, think happy. The mind is really powerful. My district leader is
awesome. i have had DLs that make me feel awful as we give our logros,
lower then dirt, but right now our district leader just "I know next
week is gonna be better, tomorrow we start a new week, and your gonna
find lots of people" just super positive, and it has helped me a lot.
It has made me think about what I say, if I am helping give my
companion, the investigators, everyone anímos.... what is that nat,
like excitement? And like you shared mom, stinking thinking is
listening to the devil, because Heavenly Father is never gonna tell us
things like that - but its a fight. Sometimes I just want be sad and
frustrated and ornery, and then I just have to kneel down and pray and
ask for a lot of help, and then I read my scriptures, and somehow, I
just feel better - like I can face at least one more day. Heavenly
Father loves us so much, He´s routin for us. and He has promised that
He will send His angels to strengthen us.

Dad, I have been thinking about you ALL week. Thank you for your
example, I was surprised to get a letter from you. I had resigned
myself to not hear from you for awhile. Elder Choy and his wife are
coming to visit our ward? Should be awesome. Are they gonna stay with
you all? How was ward conference? Its funny, when a leader like a 70
or presidente Calderón comes to a meeting they announce it the week
before, and they tell them all that they should be there on time and
not be late because a leader is coming - and its the only week of the
year that they everyone comes on time. Time here in Bolivia doesn´t
really exist - but little by little there gonna start understanding it
:)

I love you all so much. Thank you for your support and your prayers. I
know they are helping Hna Iquise and I. Please TAKE CARE OF
YOURSELVES! and know taht you´re all in my prayers too.

Dear mom,

PUMBA LIVES IN FLORIDA!  last night as we were biking home for the night we saw a wild boar about 10 yards of the sidewalk! it was so close! it probably weighed somewhere between 150 to 220 lbs. i wanted to take a picture but it was running and we weren't sure it we should be scared of it. we've heard that they can be pretty vicious. it was the first one I've seen. hopefully we'll See another and be able to get some pictures :)

I'm glad to hear dads surgeries went well. Dane is wrestling almost exactly the same weight that i did my sophomore year. i hope he is enjoying it! what school was he wrestling?

you read my patriarchal blessing!? that is cool! i read it Saturday. it was the first time in at last a month it was neat! their really are lots of things being fulfilled right now. it is a blessing to have it. i ought to read it more. it definitely has some promises that i want to make sure i take full advantage of. 

D's baptism went well. the ordinance itself was definitely the highlight. D is 73 years old and has arthritis, and the cold makes it worse. our baptismal font normally fills up cold so we we heated up a pot of water in attempt to warm it up but it did little to nothing to raise the temperature of the water. we didn't have anything left to do but pray so we prayed that D's body would be alright with the cold and that everything would go smoothly. when we got in it was still a little chilly but when she got she said it felt warm! we know that it was a tender mercy of the lord! and it was an amazing experience to see her face as she came out of the water, it was pure joy.

and what was even better was that when we were helping her get out of the font their were 3 relief society sisters their and ready help D. the ward is great!

Hello!

Dane seems to be quite the wrestler! do you have any more pictures? what weight is he wrestling? did he go down a weight? does Isaac like b-ball? has it snowed yet? if it hasn't it'll be lots easier to practice! i have been praying for you to get some snow. how did dads surgery go?  it looks like it was really serious he will definitely be in my prayers. how is he doing? please keep me updated. 

we didn't end up going to the temple tour this week. hopefully we will be able to go in a week or two. we aren't allowed to go to the temple to do sessions unless someone we taught is going through to receive their endowment or they are be sealed together. so the earliest i may be able to go for someone I've taught is in June. Mig and Ann are planning on being sealed together along with their family. so I'm super excited for that.  It's a cool tradition that the Manti stake has made of going to the temple. i wish i could be their for it i know it would be an amazing experience. and to take names you've found makes it even better! 

Grandma Dorothy is getting baptized Saturday she had her baptismal interview today! she is excited! her testimony is young but she is following it and knows that this is what God wants her to do. today I'm on exchange with Elder Battenfield who is from Murray. he is great! we're having a great day! I'm out of time. hope all goes well this week i

DAD! You have got to take care of yourself! Now I know why i`m so
accident prone, its in my genes! Please  dad, no more, I can`t take
it! :) Thank you for your example, Your picture - your hand, and just
smiling away. Its incredible. I love you lots dad. Your shinin´.
Accidents like that are pretty common here, Its always interesting
when I shake someones hand and realize that there isn`t as much hand
as there should be. You`d fit right in down here. Oh dad, I love you.
Please take care of yourself.

Thanks mom, for getting another package sent. I just received the talk
and wedding announcements and everything today - thanks so much! Your
the bomb. I also just got Amber's Christmas card - shes pregnant?! When
is she gonna have a baby? I was wondering when more babies were gonna
be comin. I also loved the Christmas card from all the cousins -
thanks! Had to laugh at Jena's- Sorry I haven`t written you but I love
reading your emails..... and nothing else! Hopefully that means
she`s gonna right me soon :) but i sure love ya`ll lots and am grateful
to be part of the Olsen family. Thanks for your encouragement. Jaiden
- When are you gonna have your mission call? Andrew... Adam? Can`t
wait to hear!

Wow! Its almost time to go already! But this week has been good.
Hermana Iquise and I have worked hard. There is a goal in the mission
every week called 7/7, we earn 1/7 everyday that we complete all of
our goals for the week. The most I have ever had in all of my mission
is 4/7, but this week we finished with 7/7 -we completed ALL of our
goals this week, everyday! It feels good, and we have decided that we
gotta keep doin it! I have studied a lot about diligence this week,
and thought about the tortoise and the hair (hmmm how do you spell
that - the rabbit?) and how diligence is the tortoise, we just keep on
keepin on until the end, little by little, progressing. and when we feel
like we have really done all that we possibly can, we`re gonna be
happier.

Its been interesting as we have tried to fulfill all of our goals.
Some nights it was 8pm and we needed one more lesson, with a member
present. All of our citas had failed, weren`t there, and our plan b,
and plan c, and I just prayed to know where to go and who would
receive us. And as I prayed and stayed positive - we found people to
listen. Who received us, and we hope to be able to help them progress.
Heavenly Father has helped and directed us so much this week and I just
feel very very grateful.

We are praying muchisimo that carmen´s identification card comes out
so that she and Jose can get married this week, and baptized the
next,.We had a neat experience as he shared that she had shared her
testimony with a friend and had been able to help her friend with he
gospel of Jesus Christ. Carmen is going to be a very strong member of
the church - and I can`t wait to see her baptized with her husband.

Yesterday we had a really neat lesson with a family. We went to find
them and they weren`t there. So we ran to visit another investigator,
and when we went back they had just gotten home. They welcomed us into
their home and we taught them the restoration. The spirit was really
strong, and they are going to pray to know if its all true. They were
very honest with us, and it was a neat experience.
This week we have met a lot of people who wonder if theres a God, who
don`t have very much hope in their life, and it has been such a neat
experience to be able to share with them that there is so much hope in
the Savior, and His gospel.

Hello!

its in the 50s!?! wow that so warm for January, i hope it snows. you're definitely going to need it. it got down into the 30s and 40s this last week and we froze. it was so cold. it only dipped down for a few days but we're back to short sleeve weather.

Tuesday was the coldest. i had my thermals long sleeve shirt, sweeter, and jacket on. but the humidity chills to the bones no matter what you're wearing. i'll pray that it snows so you can use your Christmas sleds.

we had 3 investigators and one that went to the wrong ward by accident at church yesterday! it was so fun! they loved it! Dor said that she loves church more and more every week. she has a date for the 21st and is very excited about it. Gloria came and after sacrament said that we need to get more people to come and attend church because their are so many rumors that go around that are false. but then the connection came that that's exactly what we do. we work and work to get everyone to "come and see". she then thanked us for helping her come. it was a rewarding moment. we feel that she is really going to start progressing. Le came but didn't know church now started at 11. she came at nine and attended the goldenrod ward. she only stayed for sacrament. we called and she said she was very surprised not to see us at church or anyone else she new but it was still a positive experience for her. last of all Cul came he was a referral from the sister missionaries all we had done was invite him to come and he did we plan on teaching him the restoration this week.

all in all it was a very rewarding Sunday! 

 we are hoping and praying to get baptismal dates set with Glo and Le this week. we also want to attend a temple tour with Dor and Glo Saturday.

we had presidents interviews this week and he trained on teaching the doctrine or the eternal truths of the Gospel. it is something that we often overlook as a church. we are to teach the doctrine of the gospel so plainly that they will understand and when they do they will change behavior to align it with the doctrine. so we have been focusing on making sure we are teaching the doctrine behind all the principles of the gospel. i'm excited to become better at teaching doctrine because when it is understood those we teach will change because they know why God wants them too

I can`t think of anything clever to put in the subjet, ni modo. Thanks so much for your prayers. They are helping lots. This week has been good. We have worked hard to meet our goals, and its been good. We also had ineterviews with president Calderòn this week. He gave me a blessing and lots of awesome counsel, and its helped a ton. I really am very grateful to be here serving under the direction of president calderòn. He is an inspired leader that helps us a lot. 

Sorry if it sounded like my life was awful in my last letter - I really am ok! I`m just learning lots of awesome lessons that I`m sure are going to help me in the future :) Poco a Poco, God is helping and preparing me. Hermana Iquise has been better this week, not quite so angry all the time, just during companion study - but our teaching is going better. She really is a very special daughter of our Heavenly Father. She has been a little sick this week, and good news- I think my futrue children are gonna be ok. She has been coughing a lot at night - and I woke up several times with her. I now, no longer fear for my children. :) Emily slept through the fireworks last week and was worried she would never hear her children at night.  I guess people sounds do wake her ;)

I have felt more guided by the spirit this week. Saturday we had a special day. We taught several lessons. We had taught Narda once, but when we went back she was sick, and the second time, she wasn`t there, but Friday night I was thinking about her as I was laying in my bed and thought, we better go tomorrow! We went and she accepted a baptismal date! But she couldn`t come to church yesterday. Her daughter is gonna have a baby anyday now and needed to help her with something. We told her we wanted to baptize her whole family and she said, I think we better start with me. haha The elders visited her before and she already had a Book of Mormon, but she hadn`t read it. We are working with her and hoping to be able to find her this week, and that shes not too busy with her daughter. Carmen and Josè are also progressing. They are hoping to get married so they can be bapized the end of this month. Carmen didn`t go ot church yesterday so we passed by her house this morning and found her. She said that she wasn`t able to go? But she also said that her friend was really sad this week,so she shared her testimony and gave her a gospel principles book. The next day her friend came and told her how much it helped. She is sharing the gospel with everyone! ITs awesome. They just need to be baptized! 

We were doing a contact when the lady asked us, with all sincerity - but how can you know? Why do you keep going to church every Sunday? And we could just testify that its because its true, and it brings so much joy to keep the commandments. We were also guided to talk with another lady that has some serious problems in her family - and needs the gospel desperately. We`re gonna vist her Tuesday, and hopefully it all goes well. 

Friday night at 7:30 it started raining. We didn`t have an appointment so we went to knock some more doors and look for a name we had. We were knocking a door in the pouring rain. I almost said "no one is gonna leave their house in this rain (when we knock doors its not their door that we knock, its the gate out front), I didn`t want to try. But I remembered our zone meeting where we had talked about having faith and hope and being positive, so I quickly changed and said " I know there has gotta be someone waiting for us in the house" and the miracle was that there was. they came and I said "hermana, we have come in the rain, from a long ways away to share a very important message with you" then she said the magical words- come in! We taught her in her very humble home, and it was really neat for me. IT really is so important to always be positive - its part of having hope and faith. Believing that God is preparing people for us to baptize. and its something I am working on.

Grandma and grandpa Peterson. There is an elder in my zone who is the nephew of Elder and Sister Hatch, that were in Nauvoo with you! He said they were there 18 months, and just finished - and they were temple workers. Elder Lambson is his name, hes also from my group, we started the mission together. Crazy connection - do you know them?

Nat I got your christmas package this weeK! Thanks a million! It was all delicious, the bath gel, needed ;) and the stocking adorable - I think I save it for my apartment next year. I also have a fresh lemony scent about me these days. I think its working... maybe. ;) Elise  thanks for the pictures! your kids are growing up! 

Hermana Iquise has been enjoying my D&C DVDs, she wants to copy them - do you thinkthats alright? Or is it illegal? She tells me "Its legal here, and your in Bolivia!"· I think its legal, because there aren`t laws here, just suggestions - they sell copies of copyrighted movies EVERYWHERE! haha so I don`t know. Is it ok to copy them? THe Gutierrez family also wants a copy. I`m not sure what the right thing is to do.. help me! :) I don`t need an umbrella  - I can buy one here. 

Well, I love you all so much! Thanks for your prayers. They are strengthening me. I know the church is true, and that this is the work of the Lord. Angels are all around us bearing us up, and helping us to find the elect.

Pleasant surprise.  I thought Peter would have to wait until tomorrow to write.

Hello!

WHAT?! dad you got bit by the dog? and 43 stitches? mom sent the pictures of christmas last week and i didn't even notice but i went back and looked at them and could bearly notice the stitches. do you have more pictures up close? i want to se some

i hope danes bithday was good! wow ordained a priest and had his first date! he has only been 16 for 6 days. i miss playing games with the family. it was so fun to spend time and just relax.

we celabrated new years at 9 saturday night. i had some poppers that natilie had sent me and elder mangelson also had some stuff we poppers and silly string. we partied for all of a few minutes. that was the extent of our celebrations. our church now starts at 11 so we now don't have to hurry so much in the morning.

Dorothy  came to church again and loved it! she very prepared! she has told us that she wants both of us to baptized her. so we'll see how that works out. 

leti also came to church and we think she liked it but she doesn't say very much so we are not sure exactly where she stands. but she did say she was at 90% of knowing that this is what she wants.

we have been needing to find more people to teach so we will hopefully find some this week :)

2012 and its not the end of the world . . . and happy birthday anna curtis!

Everyone here has said whats gonna happen in 2012? is it really gonna
be the end of the world? We always tell them that only God knows, but
I was happy to wake up yesterday and know that the end of the world
hadn`t come? Although I think my companion was thinking it might have
been the end of the world. She said at midnight they lit off a whole
bunch of fireworks and it sounded like we were in the middle of a war
- i on the other hand didn`t hear anything! I slept like a baby, all
night long! Crazy. Sometimes I worry about my future children - that
they`re gonna cry in the night and I`m just gonna keep sleepin -
hopefully my husband doesn`t sleep like a rock like i do!

I miss debbie too. Thanks for sharing, it made me feel good. We`ll
definitely play lots and lots when I get home, and i hope she never
gets bored! We`ll make cookies and play dress ups, and I think I`ll
join you mom in just being present. I really like your word mom.
Yesterday Hermana Iquise and I were talking about new goals we could
have for this year. I asked her about her goals and she said she had
been thinking - she doesn`t like to share anything personal, or
anything. I have no idea what her goals might be, but I know she`s
been "thinking" :) but I told her how lucky she was she was gonna be
on a misson all of 2012, she could do just one goal. I feel like my
mission goals will be a little different then my normal member living
at home goals. But maybe they don`t have to be different. The gospel
applies to everyone - both the Hermana Olsen part of me, and the Emily
from Manti UT part of me. I`ll have to keep thinking and looking and
praying about what I need to do this year to keep progressing. Like
peter said once, am i a progressing child of God? What am I gonna
change this year? We had a really awesome church yesterday. The first
speaker talked about our attitude, and how everything depends on our
attitude. How we choose how we are gonna react to everything, if we
are gonna be happy or miserable. She said if we think it, it will
happen. She shared a study someone was doing. They had two groups, one
group strengthened their muscles lifting waits, and the other group
strengthened their muscles thinking about lifting waits. Haha doing it
in their mind (thats my kind of exercise :)) but she said that those
who did it in theri mind, mentally actually had an increase of muscle.
She talked about how the mind is powerful. and its true. Like hermana
Iquise said yesterday  the mind combined with faith in Jesus Christ -
thats even more powerful! Something I liked that the speaker said is
we should think "I have the best spouse, teh best kids, the best
family" and they will be. I decided I should think "I have te best
companion" and she will be. So I`m workin on it :) But we`re
definitely - different. But she is the best!

This week we found a new investigator, taught her, and dropped her.
but we had a cool experience. Her name is Edith, we talked to her in
the street, and she said you don`t want to come visit me right now, We
said yes! So we did, we shared the restoration with her. She is
catholic, turned baptist, and loves to read the bible. Which means she
had a hard time accepting a new prophet, modern day revelation, and
the need for a restoration. She also thinks The sabbath is Saturday.
We left her with a pamphlet and went back the next day.  We taught her
a litle more, the hardest thing for her was to accept Joseph Smith -
we tried to commit her to pray but she just didn`t want to. She had a
whole bunch of other questions, which we told her we would answer in
the future. We spent almost 20 mins trying to get her to commit to
pray and ask God, but she didn`t want , para nada. We went back one
more time, answered her questions. She wanted to know where it talked
about the restoration in the bible, so we showed her. She read it, saw
that there was a cross reference in duetermony (is that how yo spell
that?), and so we read it. I was little nervous that it was gonna say
something that we didn`t understand or that had been translated
incorrectly, but we read it and it just kept supporting the
restoration. IT talked about a prophet God would raise up in the last
day, and how everyone should listen to his voice. She didn`t
understand, but for me it was really special. The more we read, the
convinced i was that all of it was SO true. The restoration, latter
day prophets, everything. Its all true, without doubt! She didn`t want
to believe it, didn`t want to pray, didn`t want to touch teh book of
mormon, thats why we dropped her. But maybe I needed that experience
more then she did. Once agin my testimony has been confirmed, this is
the true church of Jesus Christ. I know it!

To finish off the year 2011 i finished readin the book of mormon in
spanish! We had to be in teh house early for new years eve because
everyone drinks like crazy - and with the extra time I was able to
finish it, and like pres Eyring counseled the the YW in conference in
april, I put Moronì`s promise to the test. Once again, I felt of the
truth of the book of mormon. It is SO true, its all true! and I am so
grateful to be hear telling everyone about it. We`ve got the truth!
