7.27.15

Hello from the sunshine state that gets more rain then any other
state! Florida is kind of a weird place when you think about it that
way. And its reputation is holding true. Lots of rain lots of
sunshine. Someone was telling us the other day that so far this summer
it has been the hottest summer in 17 years. It is great I am loving
it!
So, the other day we were stopping by and seeing a former investigator
to see if we might be able to teach them again. She said her husband
wouldn't let her meet with us again which was really to bad but she
did give us some water and then asked if we wanted a mango off of her
tree. Yes! So she gave us one and said "feel free to pick one any time
you go by." Pretty much made my week! They are so much better right
off the tree! And mangos were already pretty good. So basically I am
pretty happy.
So this week Elder Grigg and I have been doing a bit more finding and
as a mission as a whole we have been pushing to find and teach more
families. It has been really neat to watch how as we go out in faith
the Lord always guides us. We have found a few different families that
we are hoping to start to teach this week. One of those is Jean and
his wife. We have met with them twice now and it has been really good.
He is an honest seeker of truth, so I know if he applies himself to
the things that invite him to do he will gain a testimony of the
church. I am excited to keep working and seeing the miracles of being
a part of the Lords work.
Well I don't really know what else to write about this week, so anyone
that feels like it I am taking requests of what you want to hear
about. After all, my letters have been getting a little shorter.

Well, the church is true! It is truly Christ's church organized in his way!

Hello!

Another great week here in Orlando! My new companion is Elder Grigg and he is from Ogden UT. He has now been in Florida for a week! He is awesome he is a great missionary and I look forward to continuing to work with him. It is sure making me think a lot about when I came out almost a year ago now. (Man how time flies!) Everything is so new and exciting and there is so much to do. In a way it is a good awakening for me to make sure I am doing all I can, after all I better know what I am doing now.

Les is still doing great he was able to receive the priesthood yesterday during priesthood and he will be helping with the sacrament next week, which I am so excited for. It is so rewarding to see him already taking a strong role in the ward. He is so great.

Earlier this week this Muslim decided he wanted to have an in depth conversation with us. It was a really interesting experience because he had such a different background. In a lot of ways it was an eye opener and I am glad we had a chance to talk with him. Coming away from it I am so very grateful for the Book of Mormon! I love that book so much. He got me thinking a lot about how much it means to me and how much I have learned from it. It is after all the most correct  of any book. I know that to be true. It really is the most correct book and it means the most. Each of us will come closer to God by reading and living the things written in the Book of Mormon. And life eternal is to know God. 

I know this church is true, and I love having my opinion chalenged, because each time that happens I get to learn and grow that much more in why it is true. I become evermore converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

7.13.15

L finally got baptized on Saturday! It was so awesome I was able to baptize him and that was a neat experience.He is so awesome and already such a great member of the church. He is just so excited for it all and he was even able to bare his testimony in church yesterday after he was confirmed and that was really neat. It was so good to here him once again say how he knew these things to be true. I am so excited to keep working with him!

So transfers are tomorrow! I will be staying another round in Bumby! I am pretty happy about that I thought for sure that I would be leaving. And the other exciting news is I get to train a new missionary for the next 12 weeks! Pretty excited about that it will be a great experience to have. Though that does mean that Elder Oxborrow will be leaving it has been fun to work with him and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. He is kinda crazy really weird but a happy guy. It has been great but now he is on to new adventures. Sorry we don't have much emailing time today because Elder Oxborrow had to say goodbye to some people today.

The church is true the book is blue. It changes lives, and mine too.

Here is a picture with L before the baptism. I was going to be wearing my baptismal clothes with the white shirt tie and pants, but I forgot a second shirt and we are 20 minutes away from the church so it would have taken to long to run back to get it.

Hello!
This week has been pretty great! We stay pretty busy which is always a
good thing. Les is looking good for baptism this Saturday! And then
transfers happen next week. We were able to go to the library with one
of the members from the ward and start him on some family history. It
was pretty cool to watch someone build their family tree from the
beginning. In the hour that we were there with him we were able to
hook into a line that someone had already done a lot of work on and
with that we got him into the 1500s. It was way cool he is planning on
going to the Temple shortly after his baptism to get baptized for his
parents and some other ancestors.
And now for the tell of how I became the hero for getting a ladies cat
out of a tree. One of the members in the ward call us up crying. She
can't see very well (you will see why that is important later). She
proceeded to tell us that one of her cats had gotten stuck in a tree
and that no one had told her about it and the cat had already been in
the tree for two days (of course she couldn't have found out on her
own because she can't see that far). We tried to comfort her and asked
her if there was anything we could do to help. She said not really but
that she would call if her husband couldn't get it down with a ladder
that he was going to rent from Home Depot. She called us back up a
little later and said they were having a hard time and asked if we
could help. We went down there and when we got there they had someone
on the ladder that had never been on a ladder before and he was kinda
scared, he was close but the ladder was getting to unstable for him.
He got down and they asked if anyone else wanted to try. I volunteered
and headed up the ladder. I was able to reach the cat after going a
few rungs higher then the last guy. That was less then half the
battle. I don't know how many of you have tried to get a cat out of a
tree before but it takes some work. It just wouldn't let go, and then
as I was grabbing it the cat started going higher! The bum! So grabbed
it any way I could, which ended up being he tail. Pulled it down to
where I could really grab it and then just kept pulling on the cat
until it finally let go of the tree. I started going down the ladder
one handed and before I got down the cat decided to jump. But it was
fine it landed on its feet then ran off to recover from all the
excitement. I thought it was a pretty funny experience, so classic yet
I never really thought it would be something I would help some one
with. After all, how does the cat get stuck in the tree anyway? We did
get it back down and every one is happy.
